Ways to De-Stress

            Feeling stressed or overwhelmed and not sure how to handle it? “A national poll done by NPR with [their] partners at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health [found] that more than 1 in every 4 Americans say they had a great deal of stress in the previous month” (Knox, NPR, 2014).  If you’re one of those people feeling the weight of the world on your shoulder try any or all of the following suggestions to de-stress and breathe a little easier.

  1. Meditate
  2. Utilize a stress ball
  3. Try aromatherapy
  4. Take a hot bath to relax
  5. Exercise
  6. Become a yogi

What do all of these recommendations have in common? Taking the time to recognize when your body or your mind is saying enough and giving yourself a little TLC. We can take a lot, as many people today are juggling careers and personal lives on a daily basis, and lets just say, doing a pretty damn good job with it. But you don’t want to overdo yourself and subsequently burn out. Whatever it is you decide to do to de-stress just make sure you tune in and take care of yourself when you need to.
